Assistant Professor Mgr. Karel Cudlín, photographer and teacher. Karel Cudlín was born in 1960; he finished his studies at the Photography Department of the the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 1987. He has presented his work at many solo exhibitions and taken part in hundreds of group exhibitions both at home and throughout the world. He has been a co-author of many publications and has collaborated with many Czech journals and newspapers. He was awarded the Revolver Prize and is 18 times a prizewinner of Czech Press Photo. Between 1996 and 2003 he was one of the official photographers of President Václav Havel. His métier is mainly documentary photography and he usually works in thematic series. He is well-known for his series of Soviet soldiers leaving Czechoslovakia; other major issues he deals with include Roma (gypsies), immigrants, the Ukraine and Israel. He is represented in many collections in Europe, the USA as well as Israel.
